Stress: Everyone experience it at one time or another, but chronic high stress, and how stress is perceived, can be detrimental to your physical and mental health. It can instigate feelings of anxiety and overwhelming fear. It can also weaken your health and immune system, leaving you susceptible to cold and flu, an increase in aches and pains, as well as many serious illnesses.

Stress is your body’s response to any demand for change by releasing chemicals (hormones) into the blood. The two key hormones involved in regulating the stress response include cortisol and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). The adrenal glands also secrete the fight-or-flight chemicals, epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine. The short term release of cortisol and adrenaline into the bloodstream prepares the body for an essential quick response to potential danger. The changes of cortisol level are the roots causing many dysfunctions, which is why stress is a Silent Killer.

Stress can be caused by both internal and external consequences of daily experience. Thus, there are different types of stress — eustress, which refers to positive stress, such as a response of a child to a dangerous situation; distress, which denotes negative stress, for instance, poor job satisfaction of a project manager. Another type of stress - chronic stress is a constant stress experienced over a prolonged period of time which leads to overproduction of cortisol and other stress hormones. In the long term, these conditions may induce serious health problems.

There are four major factors that trigger a stress response in the body, which are called stressors: (1) Blood sugar imbalance; (2) Mental and emotional stress; (3) Overcome insomnia. Sleep helps your brain and body re-adjust to the stress placed upon it during the day; (4) Reduce Inflammation. Inflammation sends signals to the HPA axis to release cortisol to the rescue for stress-response system. Once you manage these 4 major stressors, you will be able to take control and manage your stress response, rather than being controlled by your life circumstances.

The “Stress: Restoring The Balance” workshop will address the effects and consequences of chronic stress. Additionally, this workshop will also provide you with multiple approaches to: bring your mind and body back into balance, eliminate the unhealthy effects of stress, restore and rebuild your vitality, your health, and your performance.
